Exporting a site archive

I'm looking to download an archive of my entire Spaces site, but exporting all content simply returns the database xml describing all the posts and media, not the actual content itself. I can't see any option to install plugins to download the site as a zip (as many tutorials suggest), so I was wondering if the IT team could export/zip the site internally and send it to my OCA email account?

  1. Re: Exporting a site archive

    Dear Jacob,

Thank you for your forum post.

Unfortunately, and as you've correctly mentioned, exporting the contents of your site will return a .XML file which can subsequently be used to migrate the contents of your learning log to another platform, such as WordPress.com; sadly, the .XML file consists of HTML code and is therefore unsuitable for general reading purposes.

By exporting and importing your site to WordPress.com, for example, and using a paid subscription, you could install the necessary plugin(s) required to download the contents in a readable format and using an automated process. However, such functionality isn't available on OCA Spaces, and you'll therefore need to manually copy and paste the contents of each blog post into a Microsoft Word or Google Document, for example.

Following your forum post and a recent rise in similar requests, I will, however, endeavour to raise the possibility of such plugins being installed on OCA Spaces, and will update this forum post accordingly.

    Kind regards,
