Notify subscribers about new posts

Hi,

A couple of friends are interested in my learning log and have subscribed to the blog using the subscribe2 plugin which is active by default. However, they don't seem to have received a "confirm subscription" email, nor are they getting notifications about new posts.

I assume I'm doing something wrong, but any idea what?

Thanks, kind regards,

sb

  1. Re: Notify subscribers about new posts

    Dear Simon,

Thank you for your forum post.

Having either added your friends as a user on your learning log using the 'Subscriber' role or having subscribed to your learning log themselves, they'll need to access the WordPress Dashboard for your particular learning log and select the 'Subscribe2' plugin, located in the left hand menu, followed by either the 'Subscribe to all categories' option or select specific categories. In the event they select specific categories, they'll also need to select the blue 'Update Preferences' option, located towards the bottom of the page.

In the event you add them as a user on your learning log, they can access the WordPress Dashboard for your particular learning log by accessing any of their existing sites, and selecting the 'My Sites' option, located in the upper left, and selecting your learning log from the dropdown menu; please note that they're unable to access any of the administration options.

Having successfully selected all or specific categories, they'll now receive email notifications, however, these are often marked as 'Spam', and per Google's guidelines, emails from third party email service providers cannot be added to an 'allowlist', therefore meaning they'll be continuously marked as spam and cannot otherwise be prevented.

Those outside of OCA are unable to receive email notifications.

    Kind regards,
