Assessment Guidance

1. LO1 investigate and identify appropriate sources of information for the study of visual culture in relationship to contemporary cultural theorists
2. LO2 through investigation, develop an understanding of the critical, theoretical and artistic developments in visual culture
3. LO3 demonstrate, though your writing and making, research skills and an understanding of forms and modes of gathering information
4. LO4 reflect upon your own learning

Assessment Requirements

1. A selection of Learning Log Entries documenting and reflecting on project work in relation to learning outcomes.
   
2. Three selected essays, with supporting materials specific to the selected assignment (1500 words per essay).
3. A selection of creative work, taken from the body of practical work for the unit.
4. Reflective presentation (750 words or a 6 minute presentation).
5. All of your tutor reports.

Additional advice for Understanding Visual Culture 1 students

1. Look to select learning log entries that evidence the connections between your coursework, projects and assignments, and your learning outcomes for the unit.
   
2. If you wish to select either Assignments One or Two for the selected essays component, be sure to submit both Parts A and B. If you wish to select either Assignments Three, Four or Five for the selected essays component, you only need to submit Part A. This will help you to keep your submission within the 1500 word count tolerance for this assessment requirement.
3. As this unit is a blend of both theoretical and practical work, the selection of creative work does not need to be as extensive as a unit that focuses purely on the practical. Aim to select between 5 and 10 pieces of creative work, which can be selected from the small body of practical work you have produced for the unit and can be a combination of development work and final pieces.
4. A reflective presentation or evaluation reflecting on your work and learning journey as a whole. This will either take the form of a 6 minute presentation, or a 750 word written evaluation. 
5. Include all of your tutor reports from the unit, there should be five in total.
